What we do
Building, for us, is both. We back San Diego operators, and we company-build when AI should live inside a specific line of work — not as a generic assistant bolted on.

We write early checks into San Diego startups. Operators first. The city is the filter — we do not pretend to cover every coast.

When the wedge is obvious, we start the company. Build, staff, ship. Incubating here means we operate, not that we rent a desk and a logo.

AI that lives inside a trade, a workflow, a regulated stack. The product is the industry. The model is infrastructure. Horizontal chat is not the business.
Thesis
Most AI products are a model with a chat box. Verticalization is the opposite: pick the industry, own the workflow, put a private model underneath. We incubate and invest in companies that augment how people actually get work done — coding, operations, a trade — without sending the work to someone else’s API.
The specialization is not “AI.” It is taking AI into a vertical and making a real business out of it.
